Website Privacy & Cookie Notice

This notice applies to use of the public website at livingroomtherapy.org. It is separate from The Living Room Therapy + Wellness’s HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, which describes privacy practices involving protected health information and therapy services.

Information processed when you use the public website

The website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace currently processes basic technical and usage information needed to provide and understand the website. The site’s existing Squarespace analytics reports include information such as visits, unique visitors, pageviews, general traffic sources, and basic device, browser, operating-system, and geographic categories.

Squarespace may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website and provide analytics features. Some cookies are necessary for website functions. Other cookies are non-essential and can be restricted through the site’s cookie-consent controls. More information about Squarespace’s cookies is available in The cookies Squarespace uses.

Proposed limited use of Google Analytics

Subject to visitor consent where required, this site proposes to use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only to understand movement through the public Start Here experience. Google would receive and process analytics information on behalf of the site to generate aggregated analytics reports.

The proposed configuration would measure:

  • visits and views of the public Start Here page;
  • referring and traffic-source information;
  • source, medium, and campaign attribution supplied through standard campaign parameters;
  • basic browser, device, operating-system, language, and approximate geographic categories collected by GA4’s standard web measurement;
  • an anonymous browser-based client identifier stored in GA4’s first-party _ga cookie after analytics consent; and
  • six Start Here link-selection events:
    • practice_open
    • door_my_reactions
    • door_my_kid
    • door_between_us
    • door_why_this_hit
    • door_whole_house

These measurements are intended to answer only how many visitors reach Start Here, where they came from, whether they open the one-page practice, which Explore the House destination they choose, the percentage who choose any next step, and which destination is selected most often.

GA4’s standard web implementation collects pseudonymous usage information, including user and session statistics, approximate location, and browser and device information. Google explains its standard collection in Data collection and How Google Analytics works.

Information intentionally excluded from GA4

GA4 will not intentionally be used to collect or track:

  • names;
  • email addresses;
  • phone numbers;
  • therapy inquiry or form contents;
  • appointment or booking information;
  • client portal activity;
  • worksheet responses;
  • therapy or session information;
  • client activity;
  • health information.

The Start Here event implementation will not add form values, document responses, contact information, appointment data, or other sensitive values as analytics event parameters. Therapy forms, booking pages, client-portal interactions, and private or protected client experiences are outside this analytics project.

Campaign links will use controlled, non-personal values for utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign. utm_content may be used for a non-personal placement label such as bio, story, or post. Campaign values must not contain names, contact information, inquiry text, health information, client identifiers, or other sensitive information.

Cookies and consent

The proposed configuration will restrict non-essential cookies until a visitor makes a consent choice. Visitors will be able to accept all cookies, decline non-essential cookies, or manage cookie preferences.

Before analytics consent, GA4 is intended not to load or send Start Here analytics events. If a visitor declines non-essential cookies, GA4 is intended not to load or send those events. If a visitor accepts analytics cookies, the approved analytics may load and measure the limited public Start Here activity described above.

Visitors will be able to reopen cookie preferences from the site’s persistent cookie-preferences control and change or withdraw consent. After consent is withdrawn, subsequent non-essential analytics behavior is intended to follow the new consent state. Previously processed information is not represented as being retroactively deleted merely because browser consent is later withdrawn.

Retention

The proposed GA4 property setting is two months for event-level data, the shortest event-data retention option currently available for a standard GA4 property. The proposed “Reset user data on new activity” setting is off, so activity does not continually restart the user-level retention period. Google notes that this retention setting governs event-level information used in Explorations and funnel reports and does not control the retention of standard aggregated reports. Changing your choice

Use the site’s cookie-preferences control in the footer/subfooter to review or change your choices. Browser settings may also allow you to delete cookies already stored on your device.
